燈心草 골풀 (등심초)

1. 性寒, 味甘, 無毒.

   성한, 미감, 무독.

   Its nature is cold, its taste sweet, and it carries no toxicity. It cools the body gently, which makes it suitable for a wide range of constitutions.

2. 主五淋, 療喉痺.

   주오림, 료후비.

   It treats the five types of painful urinary dysfunction and relieves throat obstruction with swelling. In other words, it opens the waterways below while soothing blockages in the throat above.

3. 此今人織席者, 折取中心穰用. 《本草》

   차금인직석자, 절취중심양용. 《본초》

   This is the very rush that people today weave into mats; one snaps the stem and pulls out the white pith at its core to use as medicine. A familiar household material thus doubles as a remedy. (Bencao)
