穀精草 고윗가 (곡정초)

1. 性溫, 味辛, 無毒.

   성온, 미신, 무독.

   Its nature is warm, its taste pungent, and it is non-toxic—gentle enough to use without concern.

2. 主眼病,

   주안병,

   It is mainly used to treat eye disorders, having long served as a representative herb for ophthalmic ailments.

3. 喉痺,

   후비,

   It also treats throat obstruction, easing the swelling that makes speaking or swallowing difficult.

4. 齒風痛,

   치풍통,

   It relieves wind-induced toothache, soothing the throbbing pain of inflamed gums.

5. 及諸瘡疥.

   급제창개.

   It is further applied to various sores and scabies, covering a fairly wide range of skin troubles.

6. 處處有之.

   처처유지.

   It grows abundantly everywhere—no need to seek rare locales, as it appears readily in nearby fields.

7. 二三月穀田中採之. 《本草》

   이삼월곡전중채지. 《본초》

   It is gathered in the second or third lunar month from among the grain fields, when the tender early-spring shoots emerge along the paddies. 《Bencao》
