白斂 가희톱 (백렴)

  1. 性平一云微寒, 味苦甘, 無毒.

    성평일운미한, 미고감, 무독.

    Its nature is neutral, though some say slightly cold; the taste is bitter and sweet, and it is non-toxic.

  2. 主癰疽, 瘡腫, 發背, 瘰癧, 腸風, 痔瘻, 面上疱瘡, 撲損傷, 刀箭傷, 生肌止痛.

    주옹저, 창종, 발배, 나력, 장풍, 치루, 면상포창, 박손상, 도전상, 생기지통.

    It treats abscesses and ulcers, carbuncles on the back, scrofula, intestinal bleeding, fistulas, facial eruptions, contusions, and wounds from blades or arrows, while regenerating flesh and relieving pain.

  3. 塗腫毒及湯火瘡.

    도종독급탕화창.

    It is also applied externally to swellings, toxic sores, and burns from boiling water or fire.

  4. 蔓生, 枝端有五葉.

    만생, 지단유오엽.

    It grows as a vine, with five leaflets clustered at the tip of each branch.

  5. 根似天門冬, 一株下有十餘根, 皮赤黑肉白.

    근사천문동, 일주하유십여근, 피적흑육백.

    The roots resemble those of asparagus fern; over ten thick roots cluster beneath a single plant, with reddish-black skin and white flesh.

  6. 二月八月採根, 暴乾. 《本草》

    이월팔월채근, 폭건. 《본초》

    The roots are harvested in the second and eighth lunar months and sun-dried for storage. From the Bencao.

  7. 赤斂

    적렴

    There is a related herb called jeongnyeom, or red baengnyeom.

  8. 功用形狀, 同白斂, 但表裏俱赤耳. 《入門》

    공용형상, 동백렴, 단표리구적이. 《입문》
