海松子 (해송자)

  1. 性小溫, 味甘, 無毒.

    성소온, 미감, 무독.

    It is slightly warm in nature, sweet in taste, and non-toxic — a gentle warming food that suits almost anyone.

  2. 主骨節風, 及風痺頭眩.

    주골절풍, 급풍비두현.

    It treats wind disorders of the joints, wind-induced numbness, and dizziness — soothing for those whose joints ache and heads spin in cold winds.

  3. 潤皮膚, 肥五藏, 補虛羸少氣. 《本草》

    윤피부, 비오장, 보허리소기. 《본초》

    It moistens the skin, nourishes the five viscera, and replenishes those who are wasted and short of breath — a nourishing nut for dry skin and depleted vitality. (Bencao)

  4. 處處有之, 生深山中.

    처처유지, 생심산중.

    It is found everywhere, growing in deep mountains — gathered from the pine-clad slopes since ancient times.

  5. 樹如松柏, 實如瓜子, 剝取子, 去皮食之. 《俗方》

    수여송백, 실여과자, 박취자, 거피식지. 《속방》

    The tree resembles pine and cypress, and the seeds look like melon seeds; one cracks the cone, takes out the kernels, peels them, and eats them — just as we still enjoy pine nuts today. (Sokbang)
