王瓜 쥐참외 (왕과)

性寒一云平, 味苦, 無毒.
성한일운평, 미고, 무독.
Its nature is cold (some say neutral), its taste bitter, and it carries no toxicity.

通血脉.
통혈맥.
It opens the blood vessels and promotes circulation.

治天行熱疾, 酒黃病, 壯熱心煩.
치천행열질, 주황병, 장열심번.
It treats epidemic fevers, alcohol-induced jaundice, and the restlessness that comes with high fever.

止消渴, 消瘀血, 散癰腫, 落胎, 下乳汁.
지소갈, 소어혈, 산옹종, 낙태, 하유즙.
It relieves thirst, dispels stagnant blood, disperses abscesses and swellings, induces miscarriage, and promotes the flow of breast milk.

處處有之, 葉似瓜蔞.
처처유지, 엽사과루.
It grows everywhere, and its leaves resemble those of the snake gourd (gualou).

五月開黃花, 結子如彈丸, 生靑熟赤.
오월개황화, 결자여탄환, 생청숙적.
In the fifth month it opens yellow flowers and bears fruits the size of pellets, green when unripe and red when ripe.

根似葛, 細而多糝.
근사갈, 세이다삼.
The root resembles kudzu but is slender and rich in starchy granules.

一名土瓜. 三月採根, 陰乾. 《本草》
일명토과. 삼월채근, 음건. 《본초》
It is also called tugua. The root is dug in the third month and dried in the shade. (Bencao)

潤心肺, 治黃病, 生用.
윤심폐, 치황병, 생용.
They moisten the heart and lungs and treat jaundice; for this purpose they are used raw.

主肺痿吐血, 腸風瀉血, 赤白痢, 炒用.
주폐위토혈, 장풍사혈, 적백리, 초용.
They address consumptive lung bleeding, intestinal wind with bloody stools, and red-and-white dysentery; for these uses they are stir-fried first.

一名赤雹子, 卽王瓜殼中子也. 《本草》
일명적포자, 즉왕과각중자야. 《본초》
