Mogeun is the white creeping rootstock of cogon grass, the tough grass of sunny banks, also called baengmogeun. It is the same root steeped today as baengmogeun tea. Dug in the sixth month and sun-dried, it shares its entry with the plume and the sharp young shoot.

性寒一云凉, 味甘, 無毒. 除瘀血血閉寒熱, 利小便, 下五淋, 除客熱, 止消渴及吐衄血.
Its nature is cold, though one account calls it cool; its taste is sweet, and it is non-toxic. It removes static blood and the chills and fever arising from blocked blood, frees the urine, brings down the five stranguries, clears visiting heat, and stops wasting-thirst as well as vomiting of blood and nosebleed.
HomiclubMogeun is the rhizome of cogon grass, which grows in dense stands on sunny banks. It is a white, closely jointed underground stem, sold today as baengmogeun and simmered as a tea.

This is baengmogeun (白茅根, white cogon root). It is found everywhere. Dig the root in the sixth month and dry it in the sun. 《Boncho (本草)》
