性平, 味甘一云甘酸, 無毒.
성평, 미감일운감산, 무독
Its nature is neutral and the taste is sweet, sometimes described as sweet-sour, and it carries no toxicity.

主濕痺.
주습비
It chiefly treats damp-induced numbness, where moisture lingers in the body and makes the limbs heavy.

治淋, 通小便, 益氣强志, 令人肥健.
치림, 통소변, 익기강지, 영인비건
It resolves stranguria, eases urination, replenishes qi and steadies the will, helping the body grow plump and sturdy.

子有紫白二色.
자유자백이색
The berries come in two colours, purple and white.

紫者名馬乳, 白者名水晶, 又有圓者, 又有無核者.
자자명마유, 백자명수정, 우유원자, 우유무핵자
The purple kind is called 'mare's milk' for its elongated shape, the white kind 'crystal' for its clarity, and round varieties as well as seedless ones also exist.

It ripens in the seventh and eighth lunar months and is regarded as the most prized fruit of the northern regions.

Sun-dried berries are remarkably effective when pox or measles fail to erupt to the surface.

Boiling the root and drinking the broth quiets nausea and hiccups.

It also helps expectant mothers when the fetus presses upward against the heart, drawing it back down at once.

Yeong-uk, written 'moenmeolwi' in old Korean, is the name for what we now call the wild mountain grape.
